YouTube"Danse Macabre" Saint-Saëns - Rock/Metal Version
Here's my modern interpretation of Camille Saint-Saëns' "Danse Macabre" (Dance of Death). Arranged for guitars, bass and drums. Written in 1874, this piece translates nicely and naturally into heavy rock/metal kind of tune. Enjoy!
Based on a French superstition: on Halloween, when the clock chimes midnight, Death emerges with his fiddle and calls the dead to dance to his tune. Under his spell, the skeletons rise from their graves and waltz around in ghastly circles. The rattling of bones echo throughout the night in a cacophony of macabre madness. Then suddenly interrupting this dreadful dance, the rooster crows the coming of day and the dead crawl back to their tombs waiting for the next year.
Happy Halloween! And may Death unite us all!
